DIHAD, 10 Years of Building on Humanitarian Activities
This year marked the DIHAD’s tenth anniversary and the Conference’s theme centered on ‘Partnerships: Building Effective and Sustainable Partnerships in Humanitarian Assistance and Development activities’. Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UN Messenger of Peace and Chair-Person of the board of Dubai International Humanitarian City said in her opening remarks ‘Despite the rising tide of humanitarian crisis and the financial crisis of 2008, donor funding has continued to set new records – the sources of aid are shifting.’ The countries from the BRICS region (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are expanding their roles. This diversity of donors demands international collaboration and cultural understanding from different partners as team members.

Weekly Report 16 – 22 March, 2013
Most hubs managed only inbound deliveries this week, the exception being Dubai which managed both inbound and outbound cargoes. Thirteen (13) outbound shipments, valued at over USD 1.2 million, were arranged from UNHRD Dubai for operations in numerous countries (Comoros Islands, Ethiopia, Jordan, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mali, Mauritania, Somalia and Uganda). In addition, 37 deliveries, with a combined cargo value of over USD 453,000, were received for storage.
